Many apprentices continue to become managers
Loughborough-based contractor and developer William Davis Ltd has been taking on apprentices for over 60 years and many of their current managers and supervisors started out in the company as apprentices.
Brian Bradford, Training and Personnel Manager, explained: "Our employees tend to stay with the company, so investing in apprentices is very worthwhile. Apprenticeships build practical skills as well as theoretical knowledge and a trained apprentice is a very valuable employee." |

Improving your client focus
Businesses are developing a better understanding of their customers, thanks to an innovative training programme at Warwickshire College.
Courses on ‘Understanding the Industry’ are being run for employees who need to develop a better understand of the business sectors they work with. The course was first run as ‘Understanding the Farming Industry’ in partnership with insurance company, NFU Mutual.
It has since been adapted to meet the needs of other businesses, including Balfour Beatty, the Environment Agency, National Grid and the Health and Safety Executive.
